WHAT IS

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a medical treatment usually given to women or men to replace declining hormone levels. It is used to relieve symptoms of menopause in women or andropause in men. HRT can treat conditions like bone loss that are caused by these falling levels.

Before hormone replacement therapy can begin, we start by making sure you are a candidate. The work-up consisted of information you provide, health history, and medical examination.  Mammography is a necessary test for malignancy exclusion.

Hormone replacement therapy is contraindicated (I will not treat) if you:

• Have a history of blood clots

• Have liver disease

• Have a history of breast, ovarian, endometrial, or uterine cancer

• Have high blood pressure 

• Are pregnant
